Rescue Fire Company is always on the lookout for new members. Not only are we in search of anyone interested in becoming a volunteer fire fighter, but we also need volunteers to help with events and managing the organization. We have two different types of membership available:

  • Fire Fighter– A fire fighter participates in emergency responses and training. They also assist with events and managing the organization.
  • Participating Member – A participating member helps with social events and managing the organization. Participating members do not respond to emergencies.

Dedicating yourself to the volunteer fire service is no easy task, but the rewards far outweigh the long hours. Rescue Fire Company has members that have been volunteering for over 50 years and fire fighters from ages 14 to 70. There is no other community service with the same sense of family or comradery as the volunteer fire service.

Fire Fighter Membership

The core of Rescue Fire Company is its emergency service to the community. Emergency responders make this possible. Fire Fighters respond to emergencies, attend trainings, and pursue certifications. The majority of our company is made up of these emergency responders, so they also help with management of the company, just as a Participating members do. Active Fire Fighters are expected to attend monthly training nights as well as participate in company events. They respond to emergencies 24 hours a day. Our training program can also help prime you for a future in emergency services – many of our volunteers go on to paid careers in the fire service.

Participating Membership

Every organization needs a supporting staff to run smoothly. Rescue Fire Company is no different. Participating members of the Rescue Fire Company help out around the station with various tasks and are every bit a member as Fire Fighters. This can be anything from sweeping the floors to running our fund raisers. Participating members have all the privileges of an Active Member, they simply cannot respond to emergencies. Just to give you an idea, here are some of the things participating members help out with today:

  • Running Meetings
  • Organizing Fund Raisers
  • Helping with Recruitment
  • Serving on Various Committees
  • Organizing Company Social Events
  • Cleaning the Station
  • Washing the Fire Apparatus
  • Mowing the Lawn
  • Photography
  • Clergy
  • Serving as Trustee
  • Station Maintenance and Repair
  • … and much more!

Even if you can volunteer only a few hours a month, your time would be most appreciated. As a volunteer, you choose how much you take part and only need to participate in what you are comfortable with. At one point, we had a participating member come in just twice a month a simply sweep the bays and take the trash out. He quickly became our new favorite person! Every little bit helps.
